Cancer

Hi my name is Maya and I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia on November 2, 2016. I was/am a freshman in high school, and just a week before my diagnosis I was playing volleyball and going to homecoming. It is amazing how much my life has changed since then. Now my days are filled with visits to the doctor, transfusions, hospital stays, port accessing, chemo, and blood draws. And it’s amazing how used to it I am. Since I am 14, I’m considered to be in the very high risk category, meaning I have a higher chance of relapsing.  But I am 3/4 of the way done, and have about 3 months left. I should finish my 8 month treatment in the end of June and hopefully go back to high school in August. Good luck to anyone who is reading this, and feel free to contact me anytime:) And remember, you never know how strong you are until being strong is your only option.
