Keep fighting

img_0060I was diagnosed with APL leukemia in October of 2011. It was a shock to me. I didn’t really feel sick. My main complaint was shoulder pain because of a winged scapula. It wasn’t getting better so I went back to the doctor and they ordered labs. They came back bad so the sent me to an oncologist. Within a couple weeks I was diagnosed with leukemia and they said it was very aggressive and I needed to start treatment right away. I was sent to the hospital that day and I received my first dose of chemotherapy with 24 hours. It was a long journey for me and I now have had long term side effects from treatment. The doctors and nurses say I’m a miracle.

img_2471I’m coming up on 5 years cancer free and now live in Hawaii and live my life to the fullest and doing everything I can possibly do. I love the adventure in my life and the love and support from my friends and family. I find comfort in talking to other survivors and warriors. Keep fighting.
